Cardiff with A side of Ranch

California living in a modern way …. how an older home was taught new tricks

Color, geometry and the material choices of the exterior defines the architectural metaphor of “old meets new” for the Cardiff with A Side of Ranch project. A simple design layout has liberated the segmented original main living area to a light-filled open space. Featuring an expansive galley kitchen + Island and oversized sliding glass doors that directs all the flow to a stylized outdoor rear patio hang out.

An all new 380 sqft pavilion allows for an angled wood ceiling in the master bedroom with warp around clerestory glass. The indoor palette supports the concept of a modern beach house with prominent natural wood materials, clean white toned walls and visible exposure of  the home’s structural components. Precision of these details are assuring to the quality of the trades involved. Outside, an original elbowed asphalt driveway was replaced by a usable green space and a permeable grass driveway was relocated . Landscaping was dedicated to specifying low mow/drought tolerant/water wise native grasses, succulents and cacti.

Project will be third party certified to confirm our best green building practices by California Build It Green
